Baggage claim and customs at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport

Domestic and Schengen arrivals collect bags in their arrival terminal; international flights from outside the Schengen area clear passport control first, then collect bags in the baggage hall before customs. Onward transport, trams and taxis wait landside.

Where baggage is collected

  • Schengen and domestic flights — straight from the gate to the carousels in your arrival terminal.
  • International flights — passport control first, then the baggage hall, then the customs check; follow the signs throughout.
  • After collecting, exit into the arrivals hall: entrance A3 for taxis, the tram stop for the city, the free shuttle stand for Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, and the car-park shuttles for your lot.
  • Car rental passengers continue to the Car Rental Center (behind Car Park P5) for pick-up.

Arrival procedure

  1. Follow signs for Baggage Claim from your gate; screens show your flight’s carousel.
  2. International passengers complete passport control at the border facility before reclaiming bags.
  3. Clear the customs channel — goods to declare on the red channel, nothing to declare on green (EU arrivals use the blue channel where applicable).
  4. Collect luggage carts (available landside) and continue to ground transport.

When baggage goes missing

  • Report missing or damaged bags to your airline’s desk in the arrivals hall before leaving the terminal — you will need your bag receipt and boarding pass.
  • Keep the claim tag attached to your boarding pass; it carries the file reference.
  • Items left behind in security or elsewhere in the terminals: contact the airport’s Lost and Found service (see the official Guide pages).
  • A battery-powered luggage tracker helps you follow your bag while it is loaded.

Tax refunds and onward travel

  • Tax refunds for non-EU visitors are handled per the official “Customs and tax refunds” guide — ask at the tax desk before departure.
  • From baggage claim: tram stops are at the terminal, taxis at entrance A3, the T1–T2 shuttle every 15 minutes, and the walk to Nice Saint-Augustin station takes 7 minutes from Terminal 1 door A0.

Keep your shopping receipts for VAT refunds and your bag receipts until you are home — both speed up any claim after the trip.
